I’m Brian Harrington, it is nice to meet you.

Why I’m running.

    Collaboration

Fostering strong partnerships between Albany County, the University of Wyoming, and the City of Laramie would be a top priority. Collaborating closely with these key stakeholders is essential for community success and addressing shared challenges effectively.

These relationships are complicated and require all sides to work together transparently and with respect. I have a proven track record as a collaborative leader and I will continue on the Commission.

  • Environmental Stewardship

Albany County is blessed with incredible natural resources that we must carefully protect as our community grows. As your County Commissioner, safeguarding the Casper Aquifer, our clean drinking water source, will be a top priority.

We must also balance the benefits of local energy production with impacts on wildlife. I strongly support renewable energy, but with thoughtful oversight to preserve what makes Albany County special.

My approach is to encourage responsible growth that improves our economy and quality of life, while protecting our natural resources for future generations.

  • Quality of Life

Continuing to build on the high quality of life in Albany County is crucial for workforce development, economic growth, and community success. Our vibrant community, from the award-winning Downtown Laramie to the Pilot Hill Project, is linked to residents' ability to find suitable housing at all price points. As Mayor, I led efforts to reduce regulations and introduce new financing tools for residential development.

I’ll continue investing in community services that lift our residents up and not knock them down while working to promote a safe and supportive community for families.

How I got here.

I grew up in a small town tucked in Northern Wyoming's Big Horn Basin, where my family navigated poverty with hard work and community support.

In 2010, I found myself in Laramie. The first day here would set the stage for the rest of my life. I landed a job, saw one of my favorite bands, and shortly after - I met my wife, Dani and started my first business.

Exactly a decade later, just as the world grappled with the onset of the Covid pandemic, we received the news that our daughter, Ruby, would soon be joining our family. Covid lock-downs set in and my first term on the City Council drew to a close in a blur of sleep deprivation and pandemic anxiety.

Despite the challenges, that year proved to be profoundly transformative. Amidst the chaos, I learned invaluable lessons about resilience, love, and the power of community. With my re-election secured, the Council unanimously selected me to serve as the Mayor of the City of Laramie, a position I proudly hold to this day.

Shortly after becoming Mayor, we welcomed Alice, our second daughter.

My experience serving on the City Council has instilled in me a deep understanding of the potential for good within government and between government. In the past 3 plus years, the City Council and the County Commission have been able to work collaboratively to achieve the goals of both bodies and to benefits all of Albany County. I would like to continue this collaborative approach as a County Commissioner. But unlocking this potential demands visionary and creative leadership. I stand before you as a testament to effective governance through fiscal responsibility, collaboration, and the transformative power of community.

Together, we can forge a brighter future for Albany County, guided by compassion and compromise, resilience and respect, and an unwavering dedication to the common good.
